Excuses are like armpits…

…you have two of them and they both stink.

That, right there, is a direct quote from my seventh grade history teacher. Wise words. Excuses stink, regardless of what you’re trying to use them for.

I’m going to list several excuses that I, myself, have had in the past that convinced me I didn’t need to take the time or make the effort to get healthy and then prove why it stinks. Here it goes:

  1. I don’t have enough time during the day. —>Pretty much everyone is guilty of making enough time to browse through all of their social medias, check emails, and pin a couple of things on Pinterest. Know about how long that probably takes? 30 minutes. Know what else you could get done in 30 minutes? Running 3 miles. BOOM.
  2. I get embarrassed going to the gym or working out in front of people. —> Hey, you’re working out and that’s doing a lot more for you than staying home to binge watch Dexter on Netflix. Be proud that you dragged your butt to the gym. Everyone is a beginner at some point in their lives so there is no need to feel ashamed.
  3. It’s expensive to eat healthy. —> See below. What $20 buys
  4. I’m too tired to workout. —> It is scientifically proven that working out increases your energy levels as well as releases endorphins (happy chemicals) in your brain. Don’t believe me? Check out this post over at the Mayo Clinic.

I could go on and on I’m sure but I feel as though those are some of the most common excuses that I hear from people, including myself sometimes. Bottom line is this: It may be hard as hell to get started but once you do you’ll love how you feel. There have been days this past week where I just wanted to take a nap but I went for a run instead and I felt 10 times better when I was done. It’s hard to take someone else’s word for it though so you’ll just have to go try it yourself. 🙂
